Clinical Psychologist Professional Fees 2026
The Garden Clinic fee structure is below the Australian Psychological Society's (APS) national recommended fee schedule in place for 2025-2026 to maintain fees at our current rate for 2026.
A referral is not needed to make an appointment, however if you would like to receive Medicare rebates you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician. The Medicare rebate for a standard Clinical Psychologist appointment is $145.25. There is an out-of-pocket gap between the rebate and the full session fee.
After hours (6pm onwards and weekend) appointments incur a higher fee.
Payment must be made on the day of the session and can be made by credit/debit card (fees apply) or direct deposit.
Clients may attend the clinic without a Mental Health Treatment Plan however full fees apply. Depending on your level of cover, you may be eligible to claim psychological services from your Private Health Fund. To claim a rebate you need to ensure that you are covered by ancillary benefits insurance (extras). The rebate you will receive will be based on your level of cover. It is advised that you contact your insurer to confirm your eligibility.
Child & Adolescent Psychiatirst Professional Fees
A referral is not needed to make an appointment with a psychiatrist, however if you would like to receive Medicare rebates you will need a referral from your GP or Paediatrician. GP referrals are valid for 1 year and can be made perpetual at a GP's discretion. Other specialist referrals to a psychiatrist are valid for 3 months.
An up to date list of fees and rebates are sent to all new clients with the consent and registration forms. Medical specialist initial consultations attract a higher fee than subsequent consultations but also receive a higher Medicare rebate. If there are any questions please don't hesitate to discuss fees during the initial phone call when making a booking.
(Referrers please note we do not generally conduct Item 291 assessments, given the need for comprehensive assessments with young people and their caregivers is not practical in one session. Please indicate if there is a specific circumstance where you think this would be preferrable.)
After hours (6pm onwards and weekends) appointments incur a higher fee.
Payment must be made on the day of the session and can be made by credit/debit card (fees apply) or direct deposit.
Clients may attend the clinic without access to Medicare (e.g. temporary visas such as a student visa) however full fees apply. Depending on your level of cover, you may be eligible to claim from your Private Health Fund or Travel Insurer but you will need to check if Outpatient/Clinic Based/Non-hospital psychiatry is covered. It is advised that you contact your insurer to confirm your eligibility.
